Job Overview

Warehouse Automation SME at Ryder, located in Warren, OH. Exempt salary $80,000, paid twice per month. Schedule Monday-Friday with flexibility for other shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and execute comprehensive maintenance program for assigned business unit for automation and facilities.
  • Ensure business maintenance objectives, plans, and strategies are communicated and implemented.
  • Oversee hourly maintenance employees as subject matter expert.
  • Lead performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of AGV/LGV systems in automated distribution center.
  • Implement strategies to improve business, customer, and site performance.
  • Monitor AGV software platforms and integrations with WES/WCS.
  • Manage day‑to‑day performance and health of AGV/LGV systems; maintain uptime, fault response, battery diagnostics.
  • Ensure all equipment and automation operate at solution uptime.
  • Track and minimize staff overtime; plan preventive maintenance and repair projects.
  • Provide calibration and alignment of AGV systems (LIDAR, encoders, navigation sensors, drive units).
  • Generate reports on equipment health, downtime trends, maintenance KPIs.
  • Conduct root cause analysis, implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform and manage preventative maintenance for sites of lower to mid complexity.
  • Support other duties as requested.
Essential Functions
  • Implement strategies key to business, customer, and site performance measurement developed by leadership.
  • Monitor AGV software platforms and integrations with WES/WCS for optimized vehicle traffic and task efficiency.
  • Manage day‑to‑day performance and health of AGV/LGV systems, including uptime, fault response, battery diagnostics.
  • Maintain equipment and automation at solution uptime.
  • Basic cost tracking of spare parts and vendor costs.
  • Manage performance of direct reports: LGV Technicians and LGV Fault Chasers.
  • Track/minimize staff OT; plan preventive maintenance and typical repair projects.
  • Assist in implementation of business maintenance programs.
  • Assist in directing maintenance activities including policy compliance, marketing and sales support.
  • Monitor KPI’s set, MTF, vendor response, etc.
  • Lead calibration and alignment of AGV systems.
  • Generate detailed equipment health reports, downtime trends, maintenance KPIs.
  • Manage teams internally to ensure cost‑effective solutions.
  • Conduct root cause analysis.
Skills and Abilities
  • Create and maintain professional relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Manage multiple internal/external customers to achieve required timelines.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret operation manuals, maintenance instructions, blueprints.
  • Critical problem‑solving, escalation of issues.
  • Travel 0–10%.
Qualifications
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required).
  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, engineering, or related field (Required).
  • 5+ years automation/mechanical maintenance experience (Required).
  • Electrical (high voltage systems) and mechanical equipment, conveyance systems and warehouse automation (Required).
  • Experience with WCS or WES, advanced PLC troubleshooting (Required).
  • Experience maintaining spare parts inventories and preventive maintenance schedules using CMMS (Required).
  • Basic proficiency in MS Excel and maintenance software (Required).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years maintenance management experience supervising others (Preferred).
  • Background in managing vendors (Preferred).
