As a Shipping Technician at Superior Tire & Rubber Corp., you are responsible for the accurate and timely handling of materials, as well as all shipping, receiving, and inventory control processes within the Main Distribution Center (MDC). This position plays a key role in maintaining warehouse efficiency, safety, and product quality. The role exists across multiple levels (I, II, and III), reflecting increasing levels of skill, independence, and leadership responsibility.
Note:
This position exists at multiple Superior Tire & Rubber Corp. locations, including Plant 1 and the Main Distribution Center (MDC). Core responsibilities and qualifications are consistent company wide; however, duties may vary slightly by site. Please ensure you are referencing the version applicable to your location.
Essential Job Functions:
Shipping Technician I - Entry Level Technician
* Performs basic warehouse tasks under close supervision
* Gains working knowledge of MDC layout and material flow
* Follows safety procedures and company policies
* Assists with picking, packing, staging, and labeling of outbound shipments
* Supports basic receiving duties and physical material movement
* Operates forklift and material handling equipment safely (certification required)
Shipping Technician II - Experienced Level Technician
* Proficient in core MDC functions including shipping, receiving, and cycle counts
* Works independently with minimal supervision
* Accurately enters transactions into the ERP system (Syteline)
* Assists with training new hires and cross-functional task coverage
* Troubleshoots minor inventory or order issues
* Maintains high reliability and professional communication across shifts
Shipping Technician III - Advanced Level Technician
* Acts as a shift-level resource and informal lead for team members
* Executes inventory reconciliation and advanced ERP transactions
* Mentors Level I and II Technicians and supports skill development
* Drives process improvement initiatives and participates in safety audits
* Coordinates with Shipping Specialist and Supervisor on daily workflow priorities
* Demonstrates deep understanding of warehouse processes, safety compliance, and quality standards
Growth & Advancement:
* Shipping Technician roles provide a structured path for advancement through Levels I, II, and III. Promotion is based on skill development, reliability, ERP proficiency, and leadership readiness. Level III Technicians may advance to Shipping Specialist or other leadership roles within the MDC.
