Position: Facilities Technician I, II, III - Part-Time

Capital Asset Management Facility Technician

The Capital Asset Management Facility Technician performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work supporting Town parks, facilities, equipment, and other assets. While primarily assigned to Town parks and recreational amenities, responsibilities may include work at any Town-owned facility or property based on operational needs. Duties include maintaining park restrooms, emptying trash, monitoring property conditions, performing routine maintenance and repairs, and supporting the overall cleanliness, safety, and appearance of Town properties.

The position may also assist with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, lighting, and other facility systems; operate tools and light equipment; and support special projects, events, and other Capital Asset Management assignments as needed.

Facility Technician I duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Parks & Facility Maintenance:
    Performs custodial, general maintenance, and repair activities including restroom cleaning and sanitizing, trash and debris removal, graffiti removal, painting, minor carpentry and masonry, and other tasks necessary to maintain clean, safe, and functional Town parks and facilities.
  • Inspections & Preventative Maintenance:
    Conducts routine inspections and preventative maintenance of parks, facilities, recreational amenities, equipment, signs, and other Town assets; identifies and reports safety, maintenance, vandalism, or operational concerns and assists with corrective action.
  • Repairs & Troubleshooting:
    Performs basic to advanced diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, lighting, HVAC, and other facility systems and equipment consistent with the employee's assigned Facility Technician level, training, and experience.
  • Park & Operational Support:
    Prepares pavilions, facilities, and recreational amenities for rentals, programs, and public use and assists with Town events, including setup, breakdown, cleanup, and other operational needs.
  • Tools, Equipment & Materials:
    Safely operates applicable hand and power tools, light equipment, and diagnostic equipment; loads and transports materials, supplies, tools, and equipment; and assists with maintaining appropriate inventories and work areas.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    Follows applicable policies, safety procedures, and occupational safety practices; uses required personal protective equipment (PPE); and maintains accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, work performed, parts, materials, and time.
  • Weather & Emergency Response:
    Assists with snow and ice removal and responds to urgent maintenance needs involving accidents, storm debris, vandalism, facility failures, or other conditions requiring immediate attention.
  • Additional Duties:
    Assists with maintenance and repair needs throughout Town-owned facilities and properties and performs other Capital Asset Management duties, special projects, and related tasks as assigned.

Facilities Mechanic II position duties include Level I duties in addition to, but not limited to:

  • Knowledge & Safety:
    Advanced mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills. Experience with diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, electrical issues in a wide variety of various facility equipment, signs, and traffic signals.
  • Manual/General Labor:
    Diagnose and repair various types of e specialty equipment including but not limited to traffic lights, signs, plumbing systems, etc. Inspect, repair, replace, and mount electrical components and fixtures. Perform specialized tasks such as HVAC diagnosis, treatment pumps and associated equipment.
  • Equipment Operations :
    Extensive experience with applicable diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Administration/Compliance:
    Knowledge of policies related to facilities maintenance operations. Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety practices. Maintain accurate records of maintenance, parts usage, time, and materials.
