Overview

We currently have one opening. The service contract is for a total of 900 hrs but runs a 9 am‑6 pm Mon‑Fri schedule. Please reach out to Efrain Ramirez for more information about the specifics of the current opening.
LAYC‑DC Ameri Corps members serve the communities by working as Youth Developers in elementary, middle, high schools, and young adult youth. The Ameri Corps Education Department has 7 Ameri Corps positions available to support either our After School Programs, Community Schools Programs and College Access Program. We have 3 Full‑Time Positions (9 am‑6 pm) and 4 Part‑Time Positions (12 pm‑6 pm).
Member DutiesAmeri Corps members will serve as Youth Developers in one of three education programs:
After School Programs or Community School’s Program + College Access.
- Build mentorship relationships with students in a less formal setting.
- Facilitate workshops, activities, or lessons according to age that build academic/life/social/emotional skills and empower youth.
- Participate in trainings and certifications on critical aspects of youth development.
- Provide wrap‑around service support to our youth and families.
- Receive hands‑on supervision to guide you through your learning process.
- Learn how to collect accurate data to track the effectiveness of our program.
- As a team, members complete a minimum of 2 service projects and recruit 60 volunteers.
- Other responsibilities vary based on position.
