Brief Description of Duties

Responsibilities include teaching required multimedia journalism courses, performing service duties, advancing non-scholarly research and maintaining professional productivity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teaching up to two (2) courses in online or multimedia journalism and/or broadcast journalism
  • Curriculum development emphasizes cross-disciplinary integration of new media technologies and multi-platform journalism.
  • Student advising
  • Outcome assessments
  • Service to the program, department, college, university, and community
  • Promotion of the program for recruitment.
Required Competencies
  • Excellent leadership, management, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, financial management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledgeable of the best models and practices available to encourage student success. This will require regular research in this area, specific training, as necessary, involvement in relevant forums and conferences, and regular reading of higher education news sources.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and creativity in implementing responsibilities.
  • Dedication to students, commitment to excellence in creating and providing student support services, and ensuring student success.
  • Commitment to working in a collaborative environment with other team members.
  • Minimum Job Requirement

    Applicants should have, at a minimum, a master’s degree, coupled with significant professional experience. Extensive experience in news writing, copy editing, blogging, and social media is essential. Proficiency in professional, remote video production techniques is preferred. The ideal candidate would be knowledgeable in integrating theory and practice in journalism education.
