Brief Description of DutiesTHE UNIVERSITY OF THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA DAVID
A. CLARKE SCHOOL OF LAW (UDC LAW) seeks to hire a tenure‑track faculty member to join our dynamic and mission‑driven community in the 2026‑2027 academic year. Candidates may teach Property Law, Family Law, and Wills, Trusts, and Estates. A J.D. is required, with high scholarly distinction or promise and a commitment to teaching excellence.
Job Requirements Assistant Professor of Law
- Earned Juris Doctor degree and membership in good standing of the Bar of the District of Columbia or another state.
- Potential for teaching excellence and scholarly growth.
- Demonstrated professional competence in the relevant field and potential for professional growth.
An initial appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor of Law shall be without tenure and for a period of not more than three years.
Associate Professor of Law- Earned Juris Doctor degree and membership in good standing of the Bar of the District of Columbia or another state.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence and a record of scholarship.
- Demonstrated professional competence in the relevant field, demonstrated professional attainment, and potential for continued professional growth.
- At least three years of full‑time teaching experience at an accredited law school.
The Dean may recognize and allow substitution of appropriate professional experience and achievement if the candidate has less teaching experience than required, provided that the candidate demonstrates potential for effective teaching.
