Position DetailsPOSITION EMPHASIS:
This position supports NEA’s strategic objective of focusing the energy and resources of its 3 million members on promoting public confidence in public education by providing professional expertise in the Teacher Quality (TQ) department in the NEA’s Center for Professional Excellence & Student Learning (CPESL).
POSITION SUMMARY:
The essential functions of this position include identifying, developing, modifying, implementing, and/or improving NEA’s Digital Professional Learning Program. The position will collaborate with staff within and outside the Center for Professional Excellence and Student Learning to manage the identification, development, implementation, and revision of digital professional learning products. Knowledge of teaching and learning, teacher quality, school quality, education improvement, professional learning, coaching skills, and various digital professional learning tools required (e.g. Learning Management System (LMS), micro‑credentials, blended learning, webinars) is required.
The incumbent will work to build further capacity within NEA systems, professional learning organizing, NEA affiliates, and NEA member needs and interests.
The work requires knowledge of initiative, inquiry, and collaboration throughout the NEA enterprise and is accomplished under the leadership of the Associate Director of the Teacher Quality department. To carry out these responsibilities, the incumbent uses a laptop, a variety of NEA‑endorsed technology (MS Office tools), and travels frequently.
This position is a DC‑based position with NEA's headquarters building serving as the central workplace. Individuals who are hired for certain positions may request approval for telework in accordance with the policies and guidelines for the staff unit to which the position is assigned. An advanced degree (Master's degree or Doctorate) in Education, Public Policy, or other discipline related to the position preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge or skills may be obtained.
Minimum Qualifications- Experience using adult learning theory to develop and/or deliver effective, engaging, and research‑based training, presentations, and resources for education professionals; and knowledge and use of improvement science.
- Previous work experience maintaining partnerships with key organizations, including NEA affiliates, preferred.
- Sample work products (i.e., publications, presentations, training, etc.) that demonstrate technical skills and content expertise may be required at the time of interview.
