District of Columbia International School (DCI) is a public charter school serving over 1600 racially and economically diverse students in grades 6‑12 from across the District of Columbia. advanced language learning in Chinese, Spanish, and French, and a culture focused on
student agency supported by 1:1 technology.
DCI is hiring a full‑time Computer Science Teacher. This teaching position is aligned to the AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A standards. In intro classes students learn basic coding structures, data types, and algorithms, as well as careers in IT, the ethics of computer usage, and the structure of the internet and networks. Later in the program students take both AP courses.
SalaryRange
$63,113 – $105,575 (starting salary determined by education and years of relevant experience)
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Master's Degree in secondary education or this content area is preferred.
- Previous experience teaching in this content area is strongly preferred.
- Ability to use multiple technology platforms to guide instruction and communicate with students and families, including proficiency with G‑Suite tools and Gmail.
- Clear a background check.
- Deliver exceptional Computer Science instruction to diverse learners.
- Advise students, including teaching an advisory class using our advisory curriculum, and support other aspects of the school’s instructional program.
- Handle the intensity required to work in a high‑performing charter school, remaining organized, responsible, and accountable.
- Proactively manage the classroom learning environment in accordance with the school’s discipline approach to maximize student engagement and learning.
- Accept and implement feedback received for real‑time improvement.
- Engage in the IB MYP, IB DP, IB CP and language immersion.
- Deliver exceptional Chinese instruction, through immersion methods, to diverse learners.
- Conduct professional development work needed to deliver instruction at a high level.
- Collaborate with general and special educators, coordinators, and leadership.
- Communicate effectively with parents and students through a variety of mediums.
- Plan curriculum using a deep understanding of, and integration with, the IB Language curriculum framework.
- Embrace French, Spanish, and Chinese cultures by leading and participating in cultural activities for faculty and students.
- Ensure that our 1:1 Chromebook program is implemented effectively by infusing technology into instruction.
- Other duties as assigned.
