Education Specialist; Education Program Specialist

Basic Requirements

• A. Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject‑matter field appropriate to the position.
• OR
• B. Combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject‑matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional coursework that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4‑year course of study described in A above.

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position.

At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.

Some examples of this qualifying experience are:

• Experience in developing policies and programs, providing expert advice in area of specialty and providing guidance, direction, supervision, advice and/or evaluation for a program.
• Experience in addressing learning styles and accommodations for students with special learning needs.
• Experience in developing assessment instruments to measure program performance and preparing related reports to summarize results.
• Experience in developing procedures to maintain budget performance.

If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities.
