FRESHFARM's Food Prints program integrates gardening, cooking, and nutrition education into the curriculum through a model of partnerships, standards-based lessons, cafeteria connections and food access. Our expert educators teach hands-on lessons that get students excited about growing, preparing and enjoying fresh, local whole foods - and bring science, math and social studies to life - with the goal of improving health outcomes of children and families.
Position Specific Summary
Food Prints Classroom Assistants are responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Food Prints program. They work directly with the school's Lead Food Prints teacher for preschool through 5th grade classes. This position will support the work of the Food Prints program at one or more public elementary schools in Washington, DC during the Fall 2025 and/or Spring 2026 semester.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support Lead Food Prints Teachers in implementation of Food Prints programming, including preparing lessons and set up/clean up
- Assist with Food Prints classes in outdoor gardens and in indoor classrooms
- Support Food Prints teachers with class documentation, such as gathering anecdotes & photos
- Update a timesheet each week to track their hours
- Participate in training and periodic check-ins, conducted by Food Prints' Service Learning Manager, including a mid-semester check in
- Option to participate in additional learning and program opportunities, including cafeteria taste tests, supporting school-based farm stands, and farm/market field trips.
Standard Position Description
Through community engagement programs students serve with community organizations in the District of Columbia. Students provide service to meet the everyday needs addressed by their assigned organization, such as tutoring, meal preparation, or program support and coordination. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific to the department or community site.

Required Qualifications
This is an entry level position, little to no experience required, all training will be provided.

-Fully vaccinated
