Middle School Math Teacher

Social Justice School is an innovative middle school situated in the Ward 5 neighborhood of Washington, DC. Our mission is to cultivate a community of middle school learners who become scholar‑activists and work toward designing a more just world. Through an exploratory learning model, students engage with core human‑centered beliefs and develop the skills to create meaningful societal change. This is a full‑time, on‑site position for a Middle School Math Teacher located in the Washington DC‑Baltimore Area. The teacher will be responsible for instructing students in mathematics concepts, such as algebra and general math skills, and preparing lesson plans that align with the school’s unique educational philosophy. Additional responsibilities include developing and implementing an engaging mathematics curriculum, assessing student progress, and providing individualized support to maximize learning outcomes.

Collaboration with other educators and participation in professional development activities are essential components of the role.

• Strong proficiency in Mathematics and Algebra
• Experience in Middle School teaching and Mathematics Education
• Skills in Curriculum Development and designing effective lesson plans
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills
• Ability to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, or related field (required); advanced degree or certification in Mathematics Education is a plus
• Dedication to equity and social justice principles in education
• Previous teaching experience in an urban school setting is a plus
