Summary:
The Student Administrative Assistant will assist the Program Manager of the Center for Israel Studies in implementing the projects and programs planned for the academic year. Students who are looking to gain non-profit work experience and have an interest in Israel, international affairs, public relations or non-profit work are encouraged to apply.
Essential Functions:
- Duties may include: creating promotional materials, assistance with department events and lectures, social media management, event photography and office administrative tasks.
- Substantive work such as research, editing, data analysis, and event planning (20+ events per year), as well as administrative work.
- Special projects will be created as they arise.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- Part-time.
- 10 hours per week.
Salary Range: $18.40 per hour.
Required
Education and Experience:
- Students must be dependable, organized, skilled at working with Microsoft Word and Excel, and comfortable representing American University and the Center at public events.
- This position is only open to AU students with an active and available Federal Work Study Award.
Preferred
Education and Experience:
- Prior office experience is helpful.

Qualifications:
- Hours for this position are flexible and may include evening and weekend event support.
- Student must have an active Federal Work Study (FWS) award.
- Positions start at the beginning of the fall semester and continue throughout the academic year concluding at the end of the spring semester.
