As an Extended Learning Group Leader at Achievement Prep, you will play a critical role in providing additional support and enrichment opportunities to scholars ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to 8th Grade. In this role, you will work alongside a transformative team of educators to reinforce and extend upon classroom learning by providing targeted academic support, physical enrichment and social-emotional skill development. The Extended Learning Group Leader will work collaboratively with classroom teachers, families and other school personnel to create and maintain a learning environment that prepares students to excel as high-achieving scholars and leaders in high school, college and beyond.
This is a part-time, 10-month exempt role. Extended Learning staff will additionally have the opportunity to work full-time during the months of June-August, for summer programming.
Reporting to the Manager of Extended Learning, you will:
- Be on site outside of regular school hours. (6:30 AM- 8:00 AM AND/OR Mon.
-Fri., 3:30 PM- 6:00 PM Mon., Tues., Thurs., Fri, 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Wednesdays) - Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment for all scholars.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all scholars during extended learning sessions, transitions and breaks.
- Provide targeted academic support in subjects such as math, literacy, science and social studies.
- Maintain accurate records of scholar performance, attendance and behavior.
- Incorporate hands‑on activities, project-based learning and other interactive methods to enhance scholar experience.
- Participate in professional development, 1:1 coaching, workshops and training to improve teaching practices.
- Complete quarterly evaluations in the following domains:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 18 years of age or older
- Must meet OSSE state childcare licensing requirements, including one of the following:
- Bachelor’s, Child Development Associate’s (CDA), or Associate’s degree in a related field.
- 48 college credits plus at least one year of experience with children.
- Two or more years of qualifying experience in DC licensed childcare.
- Commitment to Achievement Prep’s vision and mission.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to create a positive, predictable, and productive program culture.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Hires must also clear a Child Protection Registry check and drug screen as a condition of employment.
- Ability to actively supervise scholars and lift up to 40 pounds as needed.
