Overview

Duties
  • Plan and implement a variety of educational, recreational, and enrichment activities tailored to children's interests and developmental needs.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for all participants.
  • Manage classroom behavior through effective behavior management techniques and positive reinforcement.
  • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety at all times.
  • Collaborate with parents, guardians, and school staff to support each child's individual needs and progress.
  • Provide basic first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any emergencies or behavioral concerns.
  • Incorporate themes such as childhood development, early childhood education, sports coaching, theater, or Christian counseling into program activities to enrich children's experiences.
Requirements
  • Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp, tutoring, or babysitting (highly preferred).
  • Knowledge of classroom management strategies and behavior management techniques.
  • Knowledge of sewing (highly considered).
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and team members.
  • Must be able to obtain a background check and drug test through DCPS.
  • Ability to work hours after school and occasional special events.
  • Background in special education or experience working with children with diverse needs is a plus.
  • Passion for childhood development, childcare, and creating positive learning environments.
