Position: Training Specialist (Elizabeth City, NC)

Location:Elizabeth City, NC
Work Environment:On-site at USCG CG-AIR/ALC
Schedule:Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week
Education:No specific degree requirement is identified in the PWS.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Training Specialist to support the USCG CG-AIR Unit Training Officer in administering organizational training, qualification, certification, and employee-development programs. This position maintains training records and databases, coordinates classroom and computer-based training, monitors certification requirements, supports employee onboarding, and develops and presents training materials.

The successful candidate will be comfortable presenting to large audiences, maintaining detailed training records, and coordinating multiple training requirements across military, civilian, and contractor personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, present, update, and maintain training materials, guidance, and records.
  • Develop and maintain training databases for military, civilian, and applicable contractor personnel.
  • Review training records to determine employee qualifications and currency.
  • Provide updated training information to Workforce Management Staff.
  • Support onboarding by coordinating required training and qualification courses for new employees.
  • Monitor certification, licensing, qualification, and training expiration dates.
  • Notify personnel approximately 60 days before applicable training or certification expiration.
  • Schedule classroom training.
  • Coordinate access to computer-based training.
  • Schedule instructors and presenters.
  • Coordinate classroom logistics before and after training sessions.
  • Present general ALC and USCG training when the designated presenter is unavailable.
  • Maintain aviation and maintenance qualification records for pilots, aircrews, military members, civilians, and applicable contractors.
  • Receive and transfer personnel training records.
  • Maintain training databases and provide documentation to audit teams.
  • Review ALC instructions, syllabi, and standardization check forms and recommend revisions when needed.
  • Assist the Unit Training Officer with customer-service issues and training-related complaints.
  • Conduct annual reviews of applicable legal, policy, and training requirements.
  • Recommend curriculum updates based on changing requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong public-speaking and presentation skills.
  • Ability to confidently present information to large groups.
  • Ability to develop formal documents and reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and records-management skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple training activities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal Government oversight.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience supporting training programs.
  • Experience maintaining employee training or qualification records.
  • Experience in a USCG, military, aviation, or Federal training environment.
