Job Description:The Learning and Development Specialist will spend the majority of their time designing and building digital learning content that strengthens skills and boosts organizational effectiveness. This is a hands on, design focused role centered on developing interactive e-learning modules using specialized authoring tools. The remainder of the role includes facilitating live and virtual training sessions, and maintaining content within the Learning Management System.
This person will work closely with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to pinpoint learning gaps and translate them into engaging, well built training content.
- Design and build interactive e-learning modules using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise 360, Adobe Captivate, Canva, and Hey Gen (approximately 60% of the role)
- Draft course outlines, storyboards, and scripts that serve as the foundation for digital learning content
- Develop supporting resources including facilitator guides, participant workbooks, job aids, and presentation materials
- Upload, test, and publish SCORM/xAPI compliant courses within the Learning Management System
- Lead live and virtual instructor led training sessions and interactive workshops (approximately 30% of the role)
- Partner with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to shape learning goals and translate department needs into practical learning solutions
- Evaluate audience needs to recommend the right delivery method, whether e-learning, live instruction, or a blended approach
- Oversee and maintain LMS content, including user group setup, enrollments, and tracking (approximately 10% of the role)
- Build quizzes, knowledge checks, and post training surveys to measure effectiveness
- Review early learner feedback and make timely adjustments to improve outcomes
- Organize and hand off source files, assets, and documentation to support a smooth transition to permanent staff
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field required
- Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Adult Education, Organizational Development, or Human Resource Management preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of hands on instructional design experience, with demonstrated proficiency building e-learning content in authoring tools
- Portfolio of instructional design work strongly preferred, including sample storyboards, modules, or completed course builds
- Direct experience with Articulate Storyline, Rise 360, Adobe Captivate, Canva, and Hey Gen
- Experience publishing and troubleshooting SCORM/xAPI compliant content within an LMS
- Comfortable conducting needs assessments and translating department specific gaps into practical learning solutions
- Confident facilitating live and virtual sessions with audiences at all levels
- Strong written communication skills for scripts, storyboards, and outlines
- Collaborative and energized by brainstorming with stakeholders
- ATD Instructional Design Certificate or similar credential a plus
