Duties and Responsibilities
Tour of Duty for this position is:
Monday (Night) - Friday (Night) 9:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Work schedule may require some occasionally mandatory overtime on holidays and weekends.
Duties and responsibilities for this position include the following:
- Cleans floors, carpets, and walls in an assigned area.
- Receives instructions from the supervisor on where work is to be performed and works independently.
- Tasks include restoring stone flooring.
- Cleans public corridors, closets, corridors, machine rooms, offices, restaurants, restrooms, and stairways.
- Uses heavy powered equipment such as wall washers, floor grinding and honing equipment, buffers, and rug shampooers.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment, including adjusting, cleaning, oiling and changing brushes, buffing pads, and other items subject to wear.
- Sets up and works from man lifts, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Prepares areas for cleaning. Moves furniture, heavy equipment, and other items to clear floor areas.
- Vacuums floors as necessary to remove loose debris or dirt.
- Monitors assigned work areas for spillage and incidental scrapes and blemishes.
- Waxes and polishes hard-surfaced floors. Surfaces to be cleaned include bronze, concrete, glass, linoleum, porcelain, marble, plastic, sandstone, stainless steel, tile and wood.
- Cleans, adjusts and replaces brushes, rollers and buffing pads as needed.
- Performs periodic polishing, honing, and grinding, as appropriate, of stone floor surfaces such as concrete, granite, terrazzo, and marble. Applies a penetrating sealant to protect stone flooring. Patches floors and walls as needed prior to performing restoration tasks.
- Takes note of items in the assigned work areas that are not working properly and require repair. These include lights that don't switch on, damaged floor covering, and non-working electrical outlets. Notifies supervisor of findings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
