Paterson, WA – Columbia Crest Winery (Ste. Michelle Wine Estates)
Job Responsibilities- Understand and apply Safe Work Practices Related to Refrigeration, Boilers, Mechanical and Electrical Systems, and Utilities Work. Examples include LOTO, elevated work, confined space, arc flash, hot work, electrical regulations (NEC), process safety management (PSM), and safety procedures set by the SMWE Environmental Health and Safety Department.
- Participate in the Emergency Response Team, requiring fit testing, mask fit, and response readiness.
- Train less‑skilled technicians and guide the maintenance team on refrigeration and utilities while promoting best practices and industry standards.
- Read and create piping, line diagrams, PID and instrumentation schematics related to refrigeration and utility systems.
- Perform pipe fitting, soldering, and brazing in support of refrigeration and utility systems.
- Participate on the process safety management (PSM) team to include development and writing of operating procedures.
- Fabricate components, including cutting, welding, grinding, fitting, using processes such as MIG, TIG, stick, and gas.
- Program and troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLC 500, Control Logix, Device Net, Ethernet IP.
- Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial food processing machinery including pumps, conveyor systems, bottle fillers, stretch wrappers, case erectors, case packers, capsule applicators, and labelers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Advanced knowledge of Control Logix, RS networks, and Factory Talk programming software.
- Extensive knowledge of industrial steam boilers.
- Familiarity with AC and DC electrical systems, including low‑voltage DC control circuits up to 3‑phase 480‑volt systems.
- Extensive knowledge of industrial pumped ammonia refrigeration systems, including chillers, jacketed tanks, and area comfort cooling.
- Knowledge and experience with PSM related to ammonia refrigeration, including MOC, PHA, MI, and other elements.
- Knowledge of water treatment related to condensers, potable water, and wastewater systems.
- Knowledge of industrial water systems, underground plumbing, and filtration systems.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Completed or able to complete RETA or GCAP programs.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a winery, food processing facility, or similar environment involving the responsibilities outlined above.
- Ability to work extended hours during harvest and peak periods, including rotating shift work and weekends.
- History of responsible alcohol use and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and local regulatory bodies.
$30.02–$39.03 per hour based upon relevant experience.
