Janitor

Provides custodial services to the assigned Grand Coulee Dam facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance on all types of floors, tile, terrazzo wood and carpeting.
• Dry and wet mop, strip, scrub, wax, polish all types of flooring.
• Vacuum assigned area, spot extract machine and scrubber.
• Perform minor repairs on machinery, equipment, and tools
• Empty trash and recycling bins
• Clean and maintain restrooms
• Request supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Perform general cleaning of inside and outside windows, doors, walls, tables chairs, escalators, and elevators.
• Clean, remove and replace doormats
• Check and clean parking lots, stairwells, sweep and steam pavers and surrounding areas.
• Operate scrubbers, steam cleaner, vacuum cleaner, forklift, and electric carts when required.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School education.
• Experience with janitorial procedures, materials, and equipment, including working safely around a variety of cleaning chemicals.

Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of floor maintenance; appropriate use of chemicals, solvents, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to operate/maintain various motorized equipment, strip, seal, scrub, and polish floors; follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures

Special Requirements:

Ability to obtain a Site Badge and meet site security requirements. Ability to work overtime as needed

Physical Demands:

Walking on uneven terrain, lifting 25-40 lbs., bending, kneeling, wearing personal protective equipment including gloves, booties, full body Tyvek coveralls

Working Environment:

Indoors and outdoors, exposure to powered and moving parts/equipment, noise level requiring hearing protection. Exposure to cleaning solvents, areas requiring eye protection, areas requiring additional personal protective equipment. Elevated work requiring fall protection training.
