THIS IS A CONTINUING POSTION FOR THE 2026-27 SCHOOL YEAR.
NOTE: This position is open to qualified inCERSD applicants from July 1 - July 8, 2026. Applications received from out of district applicants will not be considered until July 9, 2026. Applications will be reviewed as they are submitted. The position is open until filled.
General DescriptionThe Grounds & General Maintenance Technician maintains grounds and facilities for staff and the public in a healthy, attractive and safe condition and performs general maintenance to resolve immediate operation and/or safety concerns and provide for preventive maintenance.
Flexibility of shifts is required for this position. Possibility of working on Sunday and Monday’s depending on emergency situations.
- Cleans landscaped areas and related items (e.g. storm drains gutters, litter, playgrounds, sport fields, parking lots, etc.)
- Coordinates with site, administration and athletic coaches to adjust irrigation schedules, filed preparation, etc.
- Evaluates landscaped area, equipment, sprinkler system and grounds (e.g. fields, playgrounds, parking areas, etc.)
- Repairs and/or replaces equipment, maintains schedules and takes steps to prevent erosion.
- Maintains landscaping (e.g. lawns, shrubbery, planted areas, fences, playgrounds, etc.) including mowing, grooming border areas and trees, and facilitating a play area free of safety concerns with adequate underlay.
- Applies pesticides and/or chemicals in compliance with federal, state, and district requirements.
- Prepares grounds and athletic fields (e.g. assemblies, gymnasium, ball fields, etc.) for assemblies, athletic events and/or recreational activities.
- Requests equipment and supplies and maintains inventory to ensure availability of required items.
- Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase such as district owned hand tools, equipment, hardware, materials, and supplies. Responds to emergency situations and safety concerns to maintain facilities in operational use.
- Reports immediately in regards to damage or vandalism to facilities, or theft of equipment.
- Transports various items (e.g. tools, equipment, supplies, sand, shavings, tools, equipment, supplies, etc.) to ensure the availability of materials required to job sites and/or other district activities.
- Inspects facilities, systems and their components (e.g. septic system, chlorine injection system, monthly water well testing, fire suppression system, irrigation system, etc.) to ensure compliance with state regulations, safety and cleanliness, and to identify necessary maintenance and repairs.
- Performs basic functions related to various trades (e.g. district vehicles, carpentry, painting, plastering, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, masonry, etc.) to maintain/ repair buildings, grounds, facilities and equipment in operating condition.
- Repairs various items, systems and/or components (e.g. safety rails, plumbing fixtures, furniture, toilets, clocks, water systems, lighting fixtures/systems, carpeting, vinyl floors, walkways, fences, playground equipment, roof patch, sprinkler heads, etc.) to ensure safety and maintain items in operating conditions.
- Maintains tools and/or equipment in safe operating conditions.
- Utilizes the maintenance work order system to prioritize, schedule, and document work activities.
- Use computers and/or electronic equipment to fulfill job functions.
- Complete employer required training to maintain current knowledge regarding specific job and/or district, state, and federal rules, regulations, policies and procedures and laws.
- Participates in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attends any required meetings.
- Snowplowing.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license for the type of equipment to be driven, with no serious violations.
