Field Service Engineer - HW - Columbus, OH

Field Service Representative (Hardware) – Primary contact for Varian Medical Systems customer service and repair needs, ensuring efficient operation of VMS equipment.

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair all VMS equipment within the assigned service territory.
• Perform preventative maintenance, installations, and upgrades according to VMS guidelines.
• Manage time and schedule for preventive maintenance, installations, upgrades and incoming customer calls, prioritizing urgency and following through to completion.
• Escalate incidents when necessary and request assistance from more tenured representatives.
• Examine difficult customer issues, diagnose, and resolve them while meeting established FSR levels.
• Maintain territory management and expense control, including timely completion and submission of field service reports, expense reports, and required documentation.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships with effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Frequent use of technical documentation, standards, principles, concepts, and techniques in the field.
• Knowledge of electronic and electro‑mechanical engineering, testing equipment for verification, checkout and calibration of electronic equipment.
• Proficiency with micro‑computers/PC based systems and troubleshooting routine software and network problems.
• Ability to identify and repair routine software and delivery‑system network problems; identify and resolve simple imaging system defects.
• Performed routine maintenance, including major STBs, and diagnose moderately complex mechanical problems such as simple vacuum leaks.
• Perform vacuum‑system gun replacements and target replacements.
• Achieve certification status for C3 products and meet all vendor credentialing requirements necessary for client site access.

• Handle difficult customer situations while troubleshooting with customer observing.
• Primary support for machine accounts with completed certification.
• Understand and utilize the escalation process to Sr FSR, Management, NTS, PSE, Applications.

• Completed all VMS training classes for C3 products.
• Completed VMS HW Level II and Imaging Level II certification testing.

• 2–5 years of related experience in electronics.

• Minimum HS degree or equivalent; preferred associate degree, technical/vocational training or military experience with electronics.
• Must live within close proximity or be willing to relocate to Columbus, Ohio.
• Field‑based remote position requiring on‑site work at multiple local customer locations.
• Legally authorized for employment in the United States without requiring employer‑sponsored work authorization.

• Hold a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
• No prior DUI/DWI convictions or pending charges, and no other serious moving violations.

Base pay range: $50,210 – $69,036. Eligible benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, long‑term and short‑term disability insurance, paid parking/public transportation, paid time off and paid sick/ safe time.
