Location: Cosmopolis
Employees in this position perform a variety of semi-skilled highway maintenance tasks to assist in providing the county with safe roadways.
Employees in this position may be required to perform portions or all of the duties normally falling within the current classification depending on current workload and staffing requirements. Other duties may be assigned as required.
EquipmentOperates a variety of power equipment/vehicles in making minor repairs to roadways, shoulders, and related structures such as bridges and guardrails. This equipment includes:
- Pickups
- Single Axle Trucks
- Water Pumps
- Misc. Hand Tools
- Implements inc. Chainsaws
- Sanders
- Chipper Unit
- Climbing
- Balancing
- Stooping, kneeling
- Crouching
- Reaching
- Standing
- Mobility
- Pushing Pulling
- Lifting
- Manual Dexterity
- Grasping
- Feeling
- Talking
- Hearing
- Seeing
- Repetitive motion
Requires the physical strength and ability sufficient to perform manual labor for extended periods under dirty and uncomfortable situations and in all types of weather and temperature conditions. May lift and carry 50-100 pounds; work at heights, alone, and in remote areas; have exposure to smoke, fumes, weeds and plants, etc.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Skilled in the use of manual and power hand tools.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with coworkers, supervisors and the general public.
- Knowledge of work zone safety and traffic control.
- Ability to work in a safe, efficient, and cooperative manner.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- A valid Washington State Class A Commercial Driver's license with Tanker Endorsement and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR, Flagging, and Defensive Driving certifications.
The County requires a physical examination, hearing examination, and alcohol and drug test. Any offer of employment is contingent upon those results.
