Maintenance Manager

We are seeking an onsite Maintenance Manager in our new Wallula, WA to join the ROCKWOOL team. As a Maintenance Manager you will provide strategic leadership and oversight into all plant maintenance operations, ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of production equipment, facilities, and infrastructure. This role is responsible for the maintenance and servicing of electrical, mechanical, and isotope systems;

the development and execution of preventive and predictive maintenance programs; and the upkeep of the physical plant, utilities, and grounds. The Maintenance Manager also ensures compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements while driving continuous improvement initiatives to maximize equipment reliability and operational performance.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead and develop the Maintenance team to maximize equipment reliability, reduce downtime and mean time between failures (MTBF), and improve overall equipment availability and plant uptime.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs for production equipment, machinery, facilities, and utilities in partnership with Engineering and Operations.
  • Oversee daily maintenance activities, establish priorities, communicate the operational plan, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to established quality standards.
  • Drive effective troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions to identify and resolve equipment, process, material, operator, measurement, and environmental issues.
  • Ensure maintenance processes, procedures, and documentation are developed, maintained, and aligned with operational, safety, and reliability requirements.
  • Lead equipment testing, optimization, commissioning, and validation activities for new and existing equipment, including participation in capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate spare parts, tools, and resources are available to support maximum equipment uptime while maintaining effective cost control and inventory management.
  • Manage the Maintenance budget and lead cost-reduction and maintenance optimization initiatives while balancing reliability, operational performance, and financial objectives.
  • Monitor and report equipment and machinery performance through daily, weekly, and monthly metrics, using data to identify trends, prioritize opportunities, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all facility systems, machinery, buildings, and grounds are properly maintained to support safe, reliable, and uninterrupted plant operations.
  • Partner with the leadership team and internal customers to identify improvement opportunities, support investment requests, manage projects, and implement new technologies and equipment.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by leading by example, providing appropriate training, and ensuring compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, regulatory, and security requirements.
  • Ensure equipment subject to legislative or regulatory requirements is properly inspected, tested, maintained, and documented in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Build a culture of teamwork, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Maintenance Department and across the facility.
  • Support the onboarding, training, mentoring, cross-training, and ongoing development of Maintenance employees and plant operators to strengthen technical capabilities and operational performance.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and other functional teams to develop and validate safe, reliable maintenance and production processes.
  • Follow all applicable company policies, procedures, safety rules, regulations, and security guidelines.
