Grant County Fire District 8 (District) is accepting applications to fill one open position for a Mechanic in 2026.
The District is in South Central Washington and is a rural combination fire district with a response area of 248 square miles. Our call volume has remained steady over the past three years, keeping our fleet and equipment working year-round.
The District operates a diverse fleet of emergency vehicles and support equipment, including structure fire engines, wildland apparatus, a 100-foot platform ladder truck, water tenders, brush trucks, ambulances, and specialized rescue equipment. Our crews depend on this equipment to be safe, reliable, and ready to go when the tones drop, which makes our maintenance program a critical part of our emergency response system.
Our Mechanic plays an important role in keeping the District’s fleet mission ready. This position provides hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, inspections, preventative maintenance, and coordination of outside repairs and services across a wide variety of emergency apparatus and equipment. The work is varied, practical, and directly connected to the District’s ability to serve the community.
