Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
SCHOOL NUTRITION TECHNICIAN/WAREHOUSE MANAGER

Job DescriptionEmployment in this position is effective July 14, 2026.
Under occasional supervision, the role involves delivery of supplies, inventory maintenance, paperwork, and preventative maintenance for school food service facilities. Work may be conducted independently at various school sites while performing equipment repairs, installations, and general maintenance.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities- Organize and maintain cleanliness of the warehouse and delivery vehicles.
- Receive food and supplies into the warehouse and ensure proper stock rotation.
- Monitor freezer temperatures.
- Deliver food to schools.
- Perform general kitchen maintenance (cleaning, filter/light bulb replacement, knife sharpening, lubrication, can opener repair, wheel/gasket replacement, rack or bulletin board installation, caulking, touch‑up paint).
- Assess facility needs, identify causes of equipment or facility problems, and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in developing preventive maintenance plans and perform scheduled tasks.
- Maintain inventory and accountability of materials, tools, repair parts, and equipment.
- Quarterly inventory all tools and equipment; submit results to the Director.
- Be on call outside normal hours for emergencies involving equipment repair, food transfer, or disposal.
- Lift, carry, and move equipment, food, and supplies as required.
- Perform any other assigned tasks or related work.
High school graduation with at least two years of experience in food service equipment maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Special RequirementsValid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina.
Minimum QualificationsPhysical ability to operate mechanical, electronic, and diagnostic equipment; ability to exert up to 150 pounds of force occasionally and up to 75 pounds frequently.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of mechanical and diagnostic tools.
- General knowledge of standard kitchen tools and equipment operation.
- Ability to interpret schematic diagrams and maintenance documentation.
- Systematic problem‑identification and solution implementation.
- Effective working relationships and high service orientation.
- Forklift license preferred.
- Serv Safe certification preferred.
