This is a part time, non-union, grant-funded position with no benefits that exists as long as grant funds are available.

This class works under the direct supervision of the Principal. The main job function is to assist in building and grounds security and to perform general custodial duties and make minor repairs.

• Assists in checking building and grounds for safety hazards and report deficiencies.
• Secures the building and monitors the hallways.
• Sweeps, mops and dusts classrooms, bathrooms, offices, hallways and specialty rooms.
• Wipes and sanitizes toilets, sinks, mirrors, countertops, windows and water fountains.
• Empties trash.
• Stocks paper products in bathrooms.
• Picks up litter and debris outside on school grounds.
• Complies with procedures for storage and disposal of trash and waste.
• Cleans snow and sand from entrances, sidewalks and parking lots.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Employees appointed to positions in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the class. A physical examination may be required.

Quality of work placements include: walking, standing, color distinction, driving, lifting of up to 10 lbs., light work up to 20 lbs., medium work 20–50 lbs., heavy work 50–100 lbs., very heavy work over 100 lbs., and other physical demands such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, pulling, pushing, and balancing.

Environmental conditions may involve temperature changes, wetness, humidity, handling of chemicals, exposure to gases, fumes, bodily fluids, unpleasant odors, vibration, and noise. The role may require repetitive motion, confinement to small or restricted areas, and coordination of hand, eye, and foot.
