Custodian (8 hrs/day) – [1st Shift Becker]

[8 hours, 6:00 am‑2:30 pm]

Reports To:

Custodial Manager and Building Principal

Primary Function:
To provide a clean, comfortable, safe, and efficient environment to all occupants of the building. Also responsible for performing building mechanical and electrical equipment maintenance to ensure a safe learning and working environment.

Mobility/Agility

• Physical strength and ability to work continuous hours on feet
• Ability to frequently lift and carry moderately heavy supplies, equipment, and furniture
• Ability to occasionally lift and carry heavy supplies, equipment and furniture
• Ability to work outside and inside and in extreme temperatures/humidity
• Ability to climb a ladder up to 10 feet in height
• Ability to remove snow and ice from walks and to mow lawn
• Mobility/agility to perform all phases of custodial work

Organization/Supervision

• Good organizational and time management skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality

Interpersonal Skills

• Excellent attendance and the ability to work independently are essential traits, required to be successful in this position
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with teachers, students, fellow employees, and students
• Ability to work effectively with staff, parents, and community members regardless of race, national origin, gender, disability, age, or social economic status
• Effective communication skills
• Previous building maintenance experience preferred
• Knowledge of heating, air handling and mechanical equipment
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures
• Working knowledge of plumbing systems

• Perform all phases of custodial work generally assigned to custodians in the district.
• Supervise facility needs for school events and rental activities.
• Work overtime for school activities and outside rentals.
• Other duties as assigned by the Custodial Manager or Building Principal.
