General DescriptionThe duties of a Summer Student Helper are to assist with cleaning and maintenance of the school buildings. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Operations and/or Senior Custodian in each building.
Duties- Cleaning various sections of the building, including corridors, offices, classrooms, toilet areas, auditoriums, gymnasiums, lunchrooms, and any function rooms.
- Moving furniture in preparation for stripping and waxing of floors for summer cleaning.
- Assisting with maintenance tasks, which may require working outdoors.
- Other duties as assigned.
- One year of custodial, grounds maintenance, or related work experience preferred.
- Ability to take direction and be responsible for carrying out tasks safely.
- Ability to work independently and contribute positively to a team environment.
Moderate to heavy physical effort is required. The employee is frequently required to walk or stand for extended periods of time, sit, speak, hear, and use hands to operate equipment. Occasionally lifting objects up to 45 pounds. Ability to operate a motor vehicle if over age 18. A satisfactory pre‑employment physical and CORI check is required. Fingerprinting is required for all school employees.
