Waterville Public Schools is seeking a reliable and hardworking Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will perform routine cleaning and maintenance duties, support building operations, and take pride in creating spaces that promote learning and community engagement. This position plays an essential role in ensuring our schools are well‑maintained and ready for daily use.

The city of Waterville is located on the banks of the Kennebec River and is easily accessible from two exits off I-95 as well as Route 201. • This is a year‑round position that follows a schedule of 2:00 pm–10:30 pm with a 30‑minute lunch.

• Read, reason, and understand policies, procedures and related information and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
• Lift and carry at least 70 pounds, climb heights up to 12 feet on a ladder, and stand for up to ½ hour.
• Demonstrate acceptable interpersonal relations with co‑workers, staff, students and general public.
• Perform assigned tasks associated with the prescribed custodial program.
• Perform assigned tasks associated with the prescribed snow removal and grounds program.
• Assume responsibility for overall cleanliness and condition of one’s assigned area, and assist other custodians with overall cleanliness and condition of entire facility.
• Properly utilize and care for assigned equipment and supplies.
• Perform additional tasks as directed.

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Physically able to perform required responsibilities.
• Demonstrate desirable working relations, work habits and personal hygiene.
• Willing to work overtime as required.
