Assistant Facilities Manager

Uline Inc., a leading distributor of shipping and industrial materials, is seeking an Assistant Facilities Manager to support our Facilities, Maintenance & Asset Management department. In this role, you'll help oversee building operations, maintenance schedules, vendor coordination and asset management across our distribution and logistics facilities. Responsibilities

• Support the Facilities Manager in day-to-day operation of building, grounds, and equipment across distribution and logistics facilities.
• Coordinate and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance for material handling systems, conveyors, dock equipment, HVAC, lighting, and life-safety systems.
• Use a CMMS to create, prioritize, and close work orders, ensuring timely response and accurate documentation of maintenance activities.
• Assist with vendor and contractor management, including scheduling, onsite supervision, quality inspections, and verification of work completion.
• Help manage facility-related budgets by tracking spend, comparing quotes, and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising reliability or safety.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and extend asset life.
• Partner with operations, safety, and logistics teams to align facilities priorities with production schedules and service-level expectations.
• Monitor building systems performance, identify trends or recurring issues, and recommend corrective actions and long-term solutions.
• Assist in planning and executing facility projects such as layout changes, racking installations, utility upgrades, and small capital improvements.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements, supporting inspections, documentation, and corrective action follow-up.
• Promote and uphold a safe work environment by participating in safety walks, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
• Maintain accurate facility drawings, equipment records, asset registers, and key documentation for audits and future planning.
• Support space utilization and asset management efforts to optimize storage, workflows, and equipment allocation.
• Contribute to emergency response readiness, including procedures for power failures, equipment breakdowns, and facility incidents.
• Provide guidance to maintenance technicians and external crews, setting expectations for quality, safety, and timeliness.
• Prepare and present basic reports on facility performance, metrics, and project status to Facilities leadership.
