POSITION SUMMARY

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community, through the maintenance team at all of our facilities. The supervisor ensures the facilities look their best through both supervision of the process and team members, as well as hands on work. This position is mainly a 40 hours per week, 4:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. position, with a flexibility on days.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provides overall coordination of evening facility cleaning, including overseeing staff, stocking supplies, and hands‑on work.
  • Ensures that assigned equipment is maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.
  • Completes individual and team cleaning tasks and projects in a timely manner.
  • Trains, develops, schedules and directs assigned staff. Builds strong working relationships with staff and continues to support them as they work together to keep the facility clean and welcoming.
  • Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Advises and serves as a member of the management on cleaning issues and projects as requested.
  • Communicates well with supervisor. Informs supervisor of any maintenance needs/concerns that are out of the scope of daily cleaning or items not completed due to time/staffing constraints.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years experience in supervisory role or possessing a skill set that is conducive to a good supervisor.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning equipment and other maintenance-related tools/equipment.
  • Possess the attitude and skills to lead a team in taking pride in their work and being a cohesive team.
  • CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of employment.
  • Familiarity with basic computer functions.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

The work is performed mainly in a temperature‑controlled building and does not require extended periods of time outside. While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed for a brief time to current weather conditions.
