DefinitionUnder general supervision, performs a full range of building custodial duties related to the care, maintenance and cleaning of assigned City Parks & Facilities; provide general assistance to assigned area of responsibility. Performs other duties as assigned. This is a single incumbent position whose duties are performed at various City Parks.
Knowledge of- Operations, services, and activities of the Parks & Recreation Department.

- Operations, services, and activities of the City.
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
- Methods and techniques of general building maintenance.
- Operational characteristics of custodial equipment and tools.
- Minor preventive maintenance.
- Operate equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Work outdoors and in inclement weather conditions.
- Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, laws, and regulations.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Work independently and complete assigned tasks within given time frames.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
The duties listed below represent the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them if the work is related or a logical assignment to this class.
- Monitors and maintains Parks & Recreation facilities by cleaning and disinfecting restrooms and floors; dusting; collecting litter; and emptying trash;
- Stock restrooms with necessary supplies and maintain inventory of products.
- Performs basic maintenance on equipment by installing light bulbs; fixing toilets; changing air conditioner filters; and assembling furniture and equipment.
- Identify any maintenance or repair needs at City Parks & Facilities and report them to the appropriate supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Training, and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience preferred.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Licenses and Certificates:
- Valid State driver license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment.
