Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our healthcare team. The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for our residents throughout the care center.

The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, has excellent attention to detail, and understands the importance of cleanliness and infection control in a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain resident rooms and common areas.

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize floors and surfaces.

  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms, showers, and other designated areas.

  • Empty and remove trash and properly dispose of waste.

  • Remove and handle soiled linens according to facility procedures.

  • Assist with laundry, including resident personal clothing, linens, and bedding, as needed.

  • Maintain housekeeping equipment and ensure it is clean and in proper working condition.

  • Keep housekeeping carts, storage areas, janitor's closets, and equipment areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.

  • Assist with setting up and maintaining dining rooms, activity rooms, and living areas.

  • Follow infection-control, universal-precaution, handwashing, and sanitation procedures at all times.

  • Report equipment malfunctions, supply needs, accidents, incidents, and important resident observations to the appropriate supervisor or Administrator.

  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and professionalism throughout the facility.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of 1 year of housekeeping experience in a long-term care or healthcare setting preferred/required.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.

  • Ability to follow safety and infection-control procedures.

  • Dependable, responsible, and able to work effectively with residents and staff.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly walk throughout the care center.

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, reach, and use hands to handle cleaning equipment and supplies.

  • Ability to climb stairs when necessary.

  • Ability to occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to work in an environment where exposure to illness, infection, bodily fluids, and other healthcare-related hazards may occur.

  • The position may involve exposure to difficult or traumatic situations.

Work Environment

This position operates in a healthcare/long-term care setting and requires regular interaction with residents and staff. Employees must consistently follow facility safety, sanitation, infection-control, and universal-precaution policies.


Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Florida AHCA Level 2 background screening in accordance with state regulations.
