Job Summary

Department: 11906 Aurora West Allis Medical Center – Environmental Services

Schedule:

Every other weekend & holiday, 10:30pm‑7am | Pay Range: $20.80 – $31.20

Major Responsibilities
  • Act as a resource to employees and students, including training/orienting and providing day‑to‑day work direction.
  • Assign, monitor, and review progress and accuracy of work, monitor productivity, maintain appropriate staffing levels, and provide guidance on complex issues.
  • Assist with human resources responsibilities such as interviewing and selecting new employees, staff development, resolving employee concerns, and supporting employee morale.
  • Interpret departmental policies and procedures, and advise and update staff on procedural changes.
  • Clean furniture, carpets, floors, and all environmental surfaces using power equipment, mechanical and electrical machinery, and chemicals in accordance with safety protocols.
  • Operate various cleaning equipment, notify supervisors of safety hazards and equipment failures, and ensure supplies are labeled and MSDS references are maintained.
  • Set up rooms for meetings, deliver audio/visual equipment, and perform scheduled terminal and project cleaning in surgical areas.
  • Dust, mop, and clean patient and exam rooms, corridors, stairwells, restrooms, and other facility areas, and collect and dispose recyclables, trash, and medical waste.
  • Inventory linens, cleaning supplies, and paper supplies, restock and deliver linens, and maintain supply disposals.
  • Replace cubicle drapes, window coverings, and non‑medical supplies in specific areas; report mechanical failures or unsafe conditions to supervisor.

  • None required.
Education Required
  • No formal education required.
Experience Required
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in environmental services.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Operate various cleaning equipment, including scrubbers, carpet cleaners, waste compactors, and balers.
  • Follow and understand oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others.
  • Work independently while understanding the physical layout of the facilities.
  • Perform tasks without disrupting operations of doctors, nurses, patients, and staff.
  • Prioritize tasks and follow department policies and procedures.
  • Basic computer skills and excellent customer service skills.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Lift up to 50lbs from the floor to a maximum 5ft. and carry up to 30lbs at waist height over a reasonable distance.
  • Push/pull up to 50lbs with assistance from other staff and/or devices.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, reach above shoulders, and crawl as required.
  • Shovel and spread salt or sand on snow; may be exposed to outside temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Walk or stand for the majority of the shift and wear protective clothing when exposed to germicidal solutions, chemicals, temperature changes, soiled linen, and infectious waste.
  • Operate power‑cleaning equipment such as machine scrubbers or carpet cleaners and non‑power cleaning equipment, including ladders up to 20ft.
  • Operate all required equipment including telephones, zone phones, and pagers.
