Description Summary
Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Perform other duties such as routine maintenance activities and notifying management of need for repairs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
- Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
- Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Wipe and clean surface areas in lunch, meeting, and break rooms.
- Service, clean, or supply restrooms.
- Gather and empty trash.
- Remove snow or debris from facility sidewalks.
- Make minor repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment.
- Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
- Help monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created, and notify Safety and Security personnel as necessary.
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures and regulations.
- Support all safety, food quality and sanitation initiatives and policies.
- Follow Sugar Creek safety rules and procedures.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED). - Experience:
None required. Janitorial experience preferred. - Certification Requirements:
None required.
- Possess strong attention to detail.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Ability to understand instructions.
- Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment. Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building surfaces.
- Ability to make minor repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment.
No unusual physical requirements. Physical requirements are consistent with janitorial-type and lighter-duty maintenance positions, including mostly standing and walking. Position requires adequate trunk strength with use of abdominal and lower back muscles to support repeated or continuous body movements over time without fatiguing. Position also requires manual dexterity and static strength for manipulating or pushing or pulling objects. Other physical activity like using stairs or moving items weighing less than 40 lbs may be required as needed.
WorkEnvironment
Some work is performed in a comfortable, indoor, office-like facility. Some work is performed in an indoor, manufacturing facility with close proximity to heavy and hazardous machinery. Safety wear is required, including hard hat, hairnet, hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toe boots, coats and other necessary equipment. Some departments within the manufacturing facility maintain colder temperatures, between 30° and 40°
F.
