Position: ITS Technician

ITS Inspector - West Columbia, SC

Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, LLC (ICE) is looking to add an experienced ITS Technician to our team.

Job Duties
  • Performs ITS response maintenance for ITS field devices, including portable message boards, overhead message signs, cameras, video encoders/decoders, ATR devices and highway advisory radios, basic fiber theory of operation and connectivity, wireless modems, ATMS Software, switches, routers, cabling and connectors.
  • Available 24/7/365 for emergency callout.
  • Installs new ITS DMS, IP/analog camera and ATR systems.
  • Familiar with configuring and troubleshooting on TCP/IP and serial networks.
  • Familiar with various types of video encoding (H.264, MPEG4), as well as multicast/unicast video streams.
  • Performs ITS preventative maintenance for ATR Devices, DMS and IP/analog cameras.
  • Follows all traffic safety rules while performing duties.
  • Follows all SCDOT and company safety rules.
  • Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable.
  • Document and immediately report any non-compliance actions and safety violations to your immediate supervisor.
Qualifications
  • HS diploma required. Associate degree in an engineering field preferred.
  • 3 years of experience as an ITS technician or related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills working with co-workers, management and customers.
  • Basic understanding of traffic safety and working safely on the Interstate highway and secondary roads.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US.
  • Must complete a pre-employment screening.
Work Environment

The role involves moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds. It is essential for employees to navigate construction sites skillfully and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch.

Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods. Employees must be capable of working in varied environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and noisy settings, and be able to stand and walk during site visits. Additionally, working on construction projects may involve night work and weekend work depending on the project scope and may include working in conditions with active traffic.

Expected

Hours of Work

The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, allowing an unpaid hour for lunch daily. Work schedules may vary according to the project schedule. This is an onsite position.
