Associate Custodian

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment in University facilities.
• Provide custodial services for classrooms, offices, research labs, and public spaces.
• Drive a university‑owned vehicle during work shift (if required).
• Work a non‑traditional schedule as posted.
• Learn and perform specialized cleaning procedures.
• Provide building access by locking and unlocking areas as scheduled.
• Develop relationships with building occupants and respond to requests.

• No formal education or experience required.

• Complete onboarding training or enroll in program within 90 days of hire.
• Read, speak, and understand English for effective communication.
• Basic math skills and good organization.
• Ability to learn and use powered and non‑powered floor‑care equipment.
• Work well with others in a team environment.
• Learn and follow safety procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment.
• Lift and carry 25–50 lbs frequently, up to 60 lbs occasionally.
• Work outdoors 10% of the time in temperatures below 32 or above 90 degrees.

• Six months custodial experience.
• 24 months total work experience.

• One year of general work experience.
• Valid US or Canadian driver’s license.

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Starting Pay: $15.00 plus $0.70 shift differential ($15.70 total).

FLSA:
Non‑Exempt (eligible for overtime).

Retirement Eligibility:
Non‑exempt defined contribution plan.
