LOCATION: Historic Willamette Business District, West Linn
EMPLOYMENT OVERSIGHT & HIRING AUTHORITY: Executive Director
FLSA STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt Employee
COMPENSATION: $16.50 per hour
SCHEDULE: Wednesdays, May 13 – September 9, 2026 (Event-Based; approx. up to 10 hours a week)
ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:
Historic Willamette Main Street (HWMS) is an Accredited Main Street program dedicated to preserving and enhancing the economic vitality, historic character, and cultural vibrancy of the Historic Willamette Business District. Through the nationally recognized Main Street Four Point Approach® -- Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Vitality -- HWMS strengthens local businesses, fosters community connection, and advances placemaking initiatives.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Summer Market Event Setup & Takedown Crew Member supports the safe and efficient setup and breakdown of event infrastructure for the Wednesdays in Willamette Summer Street Market and other Historic Willamette Main Street community events as assigned.
This seasonal position requires transporting, setting up, securing, dismantling, and storing event equipment and signage throughout the Willamette Business District. The role requires reliability, physical capability, organization, and the ability to follow structured direction in an active outdoor event environment.
Additional hours may be available, but are not guaranteed, for other HWMS events during 2026, including but not limited to:
- St. Patrick’s Day in Willamette – March 17, 2026
- Old Time Fair Parade – July 11, 2026
- Willamette Brews & Spirits Stroll – November 7, 2026
- Small Business Saturday – November 28, 2026
Participation in additional events is based on availability and organizational staffing needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Event Setup (Pre-Event)- Follow safety procedures for equipment handling
- Conduct pre-event site walk for cleanliness and safety
- Assist with HWMS Booth(s) setup
- Fill and secure water weights or anchoring systems
- Transport and position equipment from storage trailer
- Set up tents, tables, chairs, and designated event areas
- Place road closure signage and barricades as directed
- Dismantle tents, tables, chairs, and HWMS booth(s)
- Transport barricades and signage to storage location
- Return equipment to storage trailer in organized condition
- Conduct final site sweep for debris or materials
- Empty HWMS trash and recycling and overflowing City trash cans, as needed, in the vicinity of the event
- Report damaged equipment or safety concerns to the Market/Event Manager
- Approximately 10 total work hours per event (up to 5 hours prior; 5 hours post-event
- Wednesday availability required during the Summer Market Season
- Additional event opportunities may be offered based on organizational needs and availability
- Clear communication regarding scheduling or availability
- Breakdown typically occurs after event closing, approximately 8:00 PM, with flexible timing
- Exact work schedules are determined by the Market/Event Manager in coordination with the Executive Director
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively
- Ability to follow safety practices
- Ability to professionally interact with vendors, volunteers, staff, and public
- Minimum age of 16 years of age
- Frequent lifting, carrying, bending, and walking. May require standing and walking for extended periods
- Extended standing during setup and breakdown
