Grain Handler Technician

General Laborer Position – Responsible for loading/unloading barges and trucks, maintenance, documentation, and general housekeeping at CGB facility.

• Participate in Safety Program and attend daily pre‑shift meetings.
• Perform duties compliant with OSHA, company safety, environmental regulations, and PPE requirements.
• Conduct deckhand responsibilities such as reading drafts, opening/closing lids, tying off barges.
• Operate barge loading operations to meet draft and quality requirements and supervise deckhand(s).
• Transfer, load, and move grain to appropriate locations while maintaining grain quality.
• Complete documentation promptly, accurately, and legibly.
• Perform general clean‑up: sweeping, shoveling, washing, painting, and other housekeeping tasks.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs where applicable.
• Assist with unloading barges, cleaning barges, moving product to storage, loading trucks with heavy equipment, loading rail, operating dryers, and operating various heavy equipment.
• Complete any other duties assigned.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: None required.
• Preferred: 1 year of experience in an industrial environment with a dependable work record.
• Skills and Abilities: Basic math skills; effective oral and written communication; ability to perform documentation; follow directions and troubleshoot; work independently and in a team; use appropriate tools; provide customer service; use tools.

• Balance, bend, stoop, twist, crouch, crawl, kneel, squat constantly/continuously.
• Climb stairs and ladders, work at significant heights.
• Concentrate on tasks without distraction.
• Distinguish grain samples by grade, color, odor, and damage characteristics.
• Enter data into computers.
• Reach frequently.
• Lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally; continuous movement per location.
• Use all applicable PPE; meet PFT and fit testing requirements.
• Pass FRA and DOT testing where applicable.
• Work in confined spaces, on barge surfaces, around deep water.
• Walk on railcars, operate vibrators, etc.
• Work extended hours, weekends, holidays, alternate shifts as needed.
• Operate in high dust levels, extreme weather conditions.
• Travel 5‑20% of time for off‑site training.
• Work rotating 12‑hour shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays.

• Base pay range: $16.00 – $25.00 per hour.
