Fleet Maintenance Manager
Job Description
This position performs specialized data analysis, fleet information management, and warranty administration for a public bus transit maintenance operation. The position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and usability of maintenance and asset data contained in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and related transit systems. Work includes analyzing fleet performance, maintenance costs, vehicle reliability, preventive maintenance efficiencies, labor productivity, road calls root cause, repeat repairs, parts usage, warranty recovery, recall tracking, and manufacturer campaigns for diesel, hybrid, battery-electric, and non-revenue vehicles.
The position coordinates warranty claims from identification through reimbursement, supports regulatory and grant-funded asset record requirements, develops dashboards and management reports, and provides data-driven recommendations to improve fleet availability, reliability, compliance, and cost effectiveness. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Manager or Director of Maintenance and Facilities and is reviewed through reports, audits, conferences, and results achieved.

Bachelor’s Degree; graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in public/business administration, transportation management, or closely related field; and two (2) years of transportation equipment, fleet warranty experience; or an equivalent combination of related training and experience (i.e. fleet warranty administrator/analyst) sufficient to carry out the duties of the position. Must possess knowledge in OEM warranty policies and procedures, including applicable Local, State and Federal regulations.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data validation, charts, and large-dataset analysis; experience with Power BI, or similar tools is desirable. Skill in using computerized maintenance management systems, fleet management systems, databases, and reporting applications. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Associate’s degree in a related field, plus four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience in transportation equipment, fleet warranty administration, warranty analysis, fleet maintenance administration, or a closely related field.
ORHigh School Diploma or GED, plus six (6) years of progressively responsible professional experience in transportation equipment, fleet warranty administration, warranty analysis, fleet maintenance administration, or a closely related field.
ORMaster’s degree in public administration, Business Administration, Transportation Management, or a closely related field may substitute for one (1) year of the required non-specialized professional experience. Candidates must still possess experience in transportation equipment or fleet warranty administration and knowledge of OEM warranty policies and procedures.
