About the PositionWe are seeking a motivated and entry‑level Junior Building Engineer to assist in the maintenance, operation, and repair of our facility’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain hands‑on experience and develop a strong foundation in building engineering. The candidate will interface directly with executives, property management staff, tenants, and outside vendors.
Under the supervision of the engineering department in conjunction with property management support, the engineer will implement and document site safety plans and all Omninet operational standards and guidelines as well as site‑specific policies and procedures relating to the engineering department.
Responsibilities- Support Sr. Building Engineers and/or Building Engineers in performing routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on building systems.
- Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting technical issues under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Participate in emergency response efforts to address urgent repairs and building‑related incidents.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to learn and contribute to operational tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance.
- Learn and assist in planning and executing preventative maintenance schedules.
- Observe energy consumption trends and help implement energy‑saving practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
- Assist in the installation and testing of new equipment and systems.
- Actively function as a team member.
- Demonstrate commitment to quality of service.
- Comply with and participate in Omninet policies, procedures, safety program and facility‑specific safety program.
- Provide highest quality of service to tenants, staff, and visitors at the facility.
- Maintain regular attendance in the workplace.
- Participate in required communication with the Director of Engineering, Engineering Manager, Sr. Building Engineer, Management, and other staff.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to building systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification meeting OSHA awareness training requirements.
- Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems is desirable.
- Strong willingness to learn, adapt, and develop technical skills.
- Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Good communication skills for interacting with colleagues and learning from experienced engineers.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and a commitment to following them.
- Eagerness to gain hands‑on experience and contribute to building operations.
- Exposure to computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is beneficial.
