The Automation Estimator will be responsible for the accurate pricing of controls materials, systems, and services for a complete and functional building automation system. Direct responsibilities include determining costs, analyzing customer requirements, and formulating quotation strategies.

• Determine costs associated with large-scale mechanical projects without the use of drawings, plans, or specifications.
• Understand and have working knowledge of various codes (Mechanical Code and local municipal codes).
• Understand and have working knowledge of Title 24 and OSHPD requirements.
• Have a working knowledge of BACnet, LON, and Modbus networks and their architecture.
• Actively gather and disseminate market intelligence for each estimate by talking directly with the buyer, end user, vendors, and other sources of information.
• Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and requirements as the basis for formulating quotation strategies.
• Work with Estimating, Engineering and Sales Departments to analyze customer requirements and develop a winning strategy for every quotation.
• Identify optimum cost/availability of materials acceptable to the customer and prepare material and labor estimates used in the quotation process.
• Effectively utilize estimating documentation and electronic programs in the preparation of the bill of material and labor estimate for all quotations.
• Prioritize tasks efficiently and meet deadlines.

• Mechanical Engineering or HVAC experience.
• 2+ years’ experience estimating/selling in commercial building automation/HVAC.
• HVAC take-off estimating experience a plus.
• Broad understanding of all types of mechanical systems (chillers, boilers, cooling towers, etc.) and HVAC controls systems, including building automation network architecture.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with energy management solutions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to learn proprietary systems.
• Strong technical writing skills; ability to read and interpret drawings and construction plans.
• Attention to detail and excellent teamwork.
• Self-starter who can prioritize tasks and work independently.
• Strong negotiating and organizational skills; ability to perform detailed work in a timely manner, follow up through order closure, and manage the order through the manufacturing process.

Compensation Range: $80,000 - $115,000 per year
