Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Scientist II with substantial experience in molecular biology and PCR techniques to join our CAP-accredited CLIA laboratory in West Sacramento, California. This on-site position offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of new cancer tests and the application of new drugs for cancer patients enrolled in clinical trials. The ideal candidate will have a profound impact on the team and the advancement of cancer research.

Responsibilities

+ Train on new assays to stay updated with the latest methodologies.

+ Perform experiments related to clinical trials with precision and accuracy.

+ Share experimental results with team members to foster collaboration and innovation.

Essential Skills

+ At least 2-3 years of experience with PCR, Quantitative PCR, digital drop PCR, or equivalent techniques.

+ Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in laboratory testing for specialties performed by the Life Technologies Clinical Services Lab.

+ Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing, preferably with Ion Torrent technology.

+ Proficiency in laboratory-based experimental techniques in a broad array of molecular biology methods.

+ Demonstrated ability to perform complex data analysis with strong analytical skills.

Skills & Qualifications

+ A BS degree in Biological Sciences from an accredited college or university is required.

+ An MS degree in a molecular field is preferred.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

+ Strong understanding of good laboratory practices and regulatory compliance.

+ Use of computer systems for data entry, retrieval, and analyses involving word processing programs, spreadsheets, and complex computer-driven instrumentation.

+ Ability to problem-solve highly complex analyses.

Work Environment

The role is primarily laboratory-based, requiring the handling of infectious agents and hazardous chemicals. Candidates must be able to sit or stand for extended periods, manipulate specimens, and operate equipment. Physical requirements include lifting up to 40 lbs, distinguishing colors for analysis, and auditory abilities to hear equipment timers. The work schedule is contingent, spanning Sunday to Saturday.

This is a Contract position based out of West Sacramento, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
