Job Description

Base pay range: $32.00 - $38.00 per hour (DOE)

Shift: Weekend shift, 4:00 am-3:00 pm, Friday - Sunday (12 hrs. x 3 day/wk.), with overtime during the weekdays

Duties and Responsibilities

Maintenance Technician II is an Electro-Mechanical position, and responsibilities will include but not be limited to supporting manufacturing operations, adjusting and repairing equipment as needed, tracking usage of and ordering replacement parts.

  • Diagnose and repair complex electro-mechanical problems with manufacturing equipment
  • Perform detailed setup on equipment including recipe changes and control adjustments
  • Repair and keep mechanical machine components in top operating condition
  • Perform simple to complex mechanical Preventative Maintenance Tasks following instructions
  • Intermediate understanding of electrical principles such as voltage, current and resistance
  • Diagnose and repair electrical control circuits, field devices, sensors, photo eyes, etc.
  • Intermediate understanding of electrical safety and motor control circuits and programmable drives
  • Troubleshoot the inputs and outputs on PLC and repair issues
  • Complete projects to add electrical circuits and controls, new equipment and relocate machines
  • Maintain and repair pneumatic systems including repairs of cylinders and other components
  • Perform simple to complex mechanical Preventative Maintenance Tasks following instructions
  • Enter all work completed in computer-based maintenance program
  • Monitor and report spare parts usage including completing parts order forms
  • Adjust equipment based on Statistical Process Control data and team with QA
  • Train new and Level 1 mechanics in more complex tasks and skills
Qualifications

  • Associates degree or Trade School in related field is desired
  • Minimum 3 years' maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of and experience with Lock-Out, Tag-Out procedures
  • Able to strictly adhere to safety policies/procedures and be committed to customer quality.
  • Must be available for regular standby assignments; work scheduled off-hours and emergency overtime as required.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Must be willing to attend training sessions as needed, including out of state locations
  • Ability to assist in Training Level I Technicians
  • Intermediate knowledge of fabrication (ex. welding, basic machining)
  • Possess strong work ethics and knowledge of intermediate troubleshooting
  • Able to read printed materials, blueprints, schematics, and computer graphics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, vendors, contractors, and suppliers
  • Ability to show attention to detail in a very fast paced environment
  • Flexible and willing to work overtime as required
Physical Demands
  • Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical work with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions, use varied hand and power tools, drive a motor vehicle and/or light construction equipment, fork trucks, platform lifts etc.
  • Lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 90 pounds and heavier weights with the use of proper equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use fingers and hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel; talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and sit for long periods, as well as occasionally be required to climb or balance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Exposure to variable temperatures as impacted by the weather, chemicals, and rotating shifts
Work Environment
  • The employee may be required to enter areas that are near moving mechanical parts, forklifts, heavy pallets with occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals, and extreme cold or heat
  • The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate to loud, and will require the use of hearing protection
  • The employee will be required to utilize various Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when accessing certain manufacturing areas: safety gloves, gloves, steel toed shoes, cut resistant aprons, etc.
Safety Responsibilities
  • Before initiating work at Ply Gem, the employee is required to read and understand the position's Job Safety Analysis
  • The employee must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and perform tasks in a manner consistent with Ply Gem safety training, Ply Gem Employee Manual and OSHA regulations
