Serves as the chief maintenance employee of a flood control project. Manages the operations and maintenance program according to the Operational Management Plan. In concert with the resource manager, develops prioritized monthly work schedules and coordinates contract work orders and Government operations to avoid conflicts and assure orderly completion of requirements.

• DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENT/DUTIES:
• Leadership and Maintenance Oversight:
  Leads and directs full maintenance, repair, and operational tasks on dam structures and facilities, ensuring compliance with safety rules, work standards, and coordination with supervisors while performing hands-on work alongside employees
• Multi-Skill Project Support:
  Performs specialized trades including electrical systems operation and repair, masonry, carpentry, plumbing, roofing, painting, welding, and utility system operations (water and sewage treatment), ensuring equipment and structural integrity for flood control and public use
• Equipment Operation and Administrative Support:
  Operates heavy and utility equipment (e.g., flood control gates, vehicles, cranes, motorboats), provides groundskeeping and custodial services, and supports administrative tasks including contract management, surveillance, and reporting to maintain project operational readiness
• PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

  This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

  QUALIFICATIONS:
• There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials, that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
• In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirement listed below:
• Experience Requirement:
• Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Mechanic Work Leader without more than normal supervision. Independently performing the following duties:
  Equipment assembly, installation, repair, operation and inspection in making flood releases, repair and maintain the appurtenant structures and systems of the dam, and maintenance inspections; I am consulted by other employees or in difficult situations regarding performance of the following duties:
  Equipment assembly, installation, repair, operation and inspection in making flood releases, repair and maintain the appurtenant structures and systems of the dam, and maintenance inspections; I have reviewed construction and service contracts at the dam and other Projects pertaining to a flood control facility.

• CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• One-year probationary period may be required.
• Appointment may be subject to suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Position is designated as Non-Sensitive-No access security clearance.
• This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment, for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
• Incumbent must obtain and maintain all Corps of Engineers licenses associated with this position.…
