Job DescriptionThe Westborough Public Schools seek a Head Custodian to join our caring staff at Fales Elementary School effective immediately. Job Title: Head Custodian, 1st Shift 6:30am-2:30pm
Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Buildings and Grounds
Department: Buildings and Grounds
Work Year: 261 days less holidays and vacation days
FLSA Status: Non-exempts
Salary Range: Custodian Salary Scales
Job Goal: The Custodian Supervisor oversees and provides custodial services for the school at the direction of the Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds. The custodian supervisor's primary responsibilities are to oversee staff and provide staff and students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop.
QUALIFICATIONS- Preferably skilled in basic custodial procedures
- Ability to relate to and deal effectively with staff, teachers, students
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with children and adults
- Must be able to lift and move at least 30 pounds on a regular basis
- Must be able to perform job responsibilities that involve squatting, kneeling, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, walking, climbing, carrying, and repetitive motions of arms, hands, legs, and feet.
- CORI, SORI, and Fingerprinting: All appointments are conditional based on a satisfactory CORI and SAFIS Background Check per 603 CMR 51.00.
Supervisorial
Skills:
- Maintains accurate inventory records of materials and products using manual and electronic methods
- Places requests for custodial supplies and vendor repairs with buildings and grounds staff
- Organizes and assigns custodial coverage for building-based events
- Obtains custodial coverage when needed
- Coordinates snow removal duties with custodial and buildings and grounds staff
- Oversees day-to-day operations of custodial staff
- Coordinates summer and vacation cleaning activities
- Acts as the point person for communication between school and outside groups for use of facilities events
- Assists in yearly evaluations of custodial staff
- Manages work order requests
Custodial
Skills:
- Performs all cleaning tasks in accordance with procedures established by the school district, evening custodial supervisor, and the building principal
- Maintains adherence to district and school health and safety protocols and cleaning/sanitizing procedures
- Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times.
- Shovels, operates and uses snow blowers
- Sands and treats walks and steps as needed
- Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic devices are working properly during the hours of building occupancy
- Raises and lowers the United States Flag on each school day
- Cleans classrooms daily and dusts furniture
- Cleans corridors during and after school each day when necessary
- Scrubs, hoses down and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily
- Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary
- Keeps the grounds free from rubbish
- Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation
- Cleans all chalkboards/marker boards as needed, at least once a week
- Makes minor building repairs as required, such as ceiling tile replacements
- Reports major repairs needed promptly to the head custodian and/or principal
- Reports any damage to school property immediately to the principal
- Remains on the school premises during the school hours and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized
