Position Overview
Supports the Financial Aid outreach unit through a range of administrative duties, handling confidential information, providing excellent customer service, and coordinating outreach activities.
Responsibilities- Provide quality customer service to all callers and visitors to the office.
- Serve as point of contact for outreach presentation requests.
- Coordinate workshops, develop and make presentations on and off campus to groups regarding financial aid and scholarships.
- Secure locations and manage logistics for financial aid outreach events.
- Keep outreach requests calendared and up to date.
- Coordinate development, implementation and completion of special projects and procedures for outreach activities.
- Assist with financial aid problems in person, by phone and by email.
- Assist with outreach activities that involve recruitment, retention, and post‑graduation issues related to financial aid.
- Serve as a member of the financial literacy planning team.
- Provide financial aid and scholarship information to prospective and enrolled students and their families.
- Collaborate with Financial Aid Counselors on outreach planning.
- Assist with the social media presence for the office.
- Assist the Senior Administrative Coordinator with mentorship and training of work‑study students.
- Provide information on and refer students to university resources that can assist them.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with regulation and policy changes.
- Minimum two years of administrative/secretarial duties supporting a department, school, or program.
- General knowledge of standard office procedures.
- Knowledge of Federal Title IV programs, State of California Grants, and Scholarships.
- Familiarity with modern office methods and practices: filing systems, telephone and email etiquette, business forms, letter and report writing, proofreading, office equipment, and current English usage, spelling, grammar, and rhetoric.
- Ability to navigate student records on Banner, Nolij, and other federally related websites and portals.
- Ability to advise on financial aid policies and procedures.
- Ability to collect and analyze data.
- Exemplary communication skills (written and oral), evidenced by a background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries.
- Basic knowledge of office machines, word processing, spreadsheets, email, and databases (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Staff Regular Salary range: $23.51 – $29.38 per hour. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
