SUMMARY OF POSITION

Responsible for assisting the building principal in organizing and fostering a positive, safe environment that is conducive to best meeting the needs of all students, staff, and parents. This includes such responsibilities as: leading, directing counseling, and supervising a variety of personnel and programs; creating effective parent, teacher, and child communications; supporting, encouraging, mentoring, and evaluating staff; fostering teamwork between teachers and among staff and parents;

and managing budget items.

Starting Salary: $84,000 annually / 195 days

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed teacher
  • Master's degree in Education and/or Counseling
  • Administrative license or enrolled in administration coursework is preferred
  • Minimum of five years of classroom teaching and/or school counseling experience
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the DSC mission and strategic plan and supports district initiatives via a clear vision for rigorous and impactful teaching & learning.
  • Partners with the school community to promote student learning:
    Understands the greater community and works to establish a genuine partnership model between home and school.
  • Consistently demonstrates high moral, ethical, and professional standards of performance and personal integrity, which includes addressing problems and issues in an open, honest, and timely manner.
  • Assists in creating a school culture that promotes the ongoing improvement of learning and teaching for students and staff by way of the Professional Learning Communities process.
  • Assists in leading the development, implementation and evaluation of a data-driven plan for increasing student achievement, including the use of multiple student data elements.
  • Assists instructional staff with alignment of a guaranteed and viable curriculum and common assessments in conjunction with state and local district prioritized learning goals.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs that address the needs of at‑risk students.
  • Leads the Academic RtI Team to oversee the data collection to identify students for placement and ensure appropriate levels of support are provided.
  • Assists with establishing and implementing school rules, expectations, and procedures to provide an environment conducive to learning.
  • Assists in providing a safe and secure learning environment utilizing the Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support process.
  • Performs a variety of administrative duties, including assistance with managing both staff and fiscal resources to support student achievement and legal responsibilities.
  • Supervises extracurricular activities before & after school, as well as on the weekends.
  • Monitors, assists, and evaluates effective and equitable instruction and assessment practices, ensuring alignment with the School Improvement Plan.
  • Serves as a mentor for new teachers.
  • Collaborates with the principal for the evaluation of classified staff.
  • Leads the High Ability/Honors Team to oversee the data collection to identify students for high ability course placement.
  • Provides coaching to a variety of faculty, staff, and student programs and services.
  • Participates in formal and informal classroom visitations and observations.
  • Participates in the development of transition plans for students.
  • Participates as needed in Individual Educational Plan meetings.
  • Serves as School Testing Coordinator (STC).
  • Actively leads and/or participates in district meetings/committees, workshops, school academic, athletic, and extracurricular activities.
  • Chairs meetings (e.g., curriculum, safety, site advisory, special district committees, etc.) for the purpose of coordinating activities and ensuring that outcomes achieve school, district, and/or state objectives.
  • Circulates and is highly visible in the school's common spaces during school hours, overseeing students.
  • Professionally engages and confers with parents and colleagues, creating healthy relationships with students and faculty to address student academic and behavioral needs and create a quality learning environment.
  • Follows the board policies and stays abreast of updates/changes.
  • Follows all expectations established in the DSC Evaluation Plan, DSC's Teacher Agreement, and employee handbook.
  • Adheres to SBOA regulations and DSC and board policies, procedures, and accounting practices. Ability to practice consistent communication with CHS ECA Treasurer and DSC business office staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
