Sr. Category Marketing Manager
As a Sr. Category Marketing Manager, you’ll strategically lead a diverse product portfolio—crafting clear value propositions, driving growth, and empowering sales teams with actionable insights. You’ll collaborate across functions to deliver seamless commercial execution, engage directly with customers to convert opportunities, and translate global strategy into impactful regional plans.
Responsibilities- Shape Global Strategy by representing region in cross‑functional teams, developing and executing forward‑looking global category strategies, leveraging local market insights and trends.
- Drive Regional Roadmaps, contributing to the creation of technical roadmaps tailored to your category and region.
- Business Reporting & Analysis:
Ensure consistent category reporting, guide budget and strategic planning, and analyze profitability to identify growth opportunities. - Engage Key Customers, building market knowledge through direct interactions, informing solution development, and converting high‑value sales opportunities.
- Market Intelligence, gathering and applying market and competitor insights to identify growth potential and inform strategic decisions.
- Brand & Category Appraisals, regularly assessing sub‑category and brand performance to identify opportunities to enhance consumer appeal and drive category growth.
- Lead Growth Initiatives, initiating and guiding cross‑functional teams to implement annual growth plans and innovation projects.
- Pipeline Development, partnering with Sales to expand the opportunity pipeline and support targeted prospecting for “must‑win” customers.
- Demand Generation & Sales Enablement, collaborating with digital and go‑to‑market teams to develop impactful campaigns and sales tools, and training teams on category trends.
- Champion Innovation, consolidating regional customer insights to prioritize innovation opportunities, develop business cases, and drive strategic change.
- Launch Excellence, coordinating new product launches with global teams, ensuring strong value propositions backed by consumer insights and competitive analysis.
- 8–12+ years in category, segment or strategic marketing leadership roles, preferably in B2B food ingredients or adjacent solution‑driven categories.
- Some familiarity with category or adjacent category knowledge; if category knowledge is limited, strong synergistic ingredient knowledge.
- Demonstrated ownership of categories, segments or portfolios with clear commercial accountability.
- Experience supporting new category development, innovation pipelines and growth initiatives rather than only mature portfolios.
- Comfortable being measured on pipeline, conversion and growth, not awareness or reach.
- Think in terms of where to play/how to win, not just campaigns.
- Experience operating in regional and global matrixed organizations.
- Proven track record working closely with Sales, Innovation/R&D and technical teams.
- Strong exposure to consultative selling environments.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and live problem‑solving.
