General Environmental Technician I – GSD (Summer Seasonal)
Pay: $15.68 per hour
Responsibilities- Perform routine tasks involving physical strength and agility, including use of hand tools and grass mowing equipment. Must wear steel toe boots.
- Perform routine labor/maintenance work outdoors, such as removing debris, shrubbery, overgrowth and miscellaneous items from walkways, alleys and corridors.
- Clean assigned areas and equipment.
- Assist with erecting, repairing and constructing fences, including wooden and metal.
- Utilize common hand tools such as wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, and other landscape tools.
- Clean walls, windows, restrooms, water coolers, swimming pools, kitchen equipment and interior/exterior surfaces of vehicles.
- Sweep, dust, wax, mop and polish floors, stairs, woodwork, elevators and furniture.
- Operate shredding equipment, vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, polishers, buffers and other industrial cleaning equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid State of Michigan Driver’s License (preferred).
Skills and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of commonly used hand tools.
- Basic knowledge of landscaping/ground maintenance tools and materials.
- Basic knowledge of janitorial practices and equipment.
- Skill in using gardening hand tools and equipment.
- Skill in cleaning offices, buildings and grounds.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to display physical strength and dexterity.
- Ability to perform all duties of the classification.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a work group or team.
- Light to strenuous physical activity, including operating machinery and motor vehicles.
- Movement and navigation of stairs, ladders, and other structures to accomplish tasks.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Indoor and outdoor environments with potential exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, wet conditions, loud noise, dust and hazardous chemicals.
- Travel to meetings, conferences and other jobsites with exposure to seasonal weather conditions.
- Employees must wear appropriate safety attire in accordance with departmental and OSHA safety regulations.
